Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on the 26th of March, 1991. She's an American singer-songwriter and the first artist to be signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. The label released her first EP, Pho, in October 2016 where she started to get recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album was released 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox has uploaded her music on the internet since 2012 with her debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. The year 2014 saw her continue to share her music over the internet, including her self released single Bound. She appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes, from Sweat It Out, on the 21st of July in 2015. In the following year, her music was circulating throughout the Dreamville team as J. Cole wanted her to collaborate with him on some references for Rihanna. The announcement of her decision to be signed to Dreamville Records was made on the 8th day of December. Backseat is a song that was written by her and Cozz for the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II. On October 21 2016 she dropped her debut EP entitled Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening act to J. Cole on his single Change in 2017. She also performed on 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018 she went on to appear on two of her songs along with label-mates EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. The 16th of July, 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream of her album debut Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video that was released on September 5. On the 9th of November 2018 she dropped two additional singles, titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). The 13th of November, she released two more singles called The No One or Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track she sang alongside Cole on Creed II's soundtrack on 16 November. It then came out as a stand-alone single in February 2019 to coincide with her debut album. In February of 2019 a music video was released for the song. It has already received over 3 million views on YouTube within its first week. In December of 2018, she was part of her From East Atlanta With Love Tour featuring 6LACK.
